2019 Top Performers : Camp of Champs
Prep Hoops took in the action earlier this week on Monday at the Camp of Champs at the Upward Star Center in Spartanburg. Lets take a look at the 2019 Top Performers from the Palmetto State we saw play on Monday.
Ishan White – Berkeley HS (Moncks Corner)
White continues his sold play through the spring. White 6’7 picked up several scholarship offers this past spring. White seems to best from 15-17 feet on the floor and really looks to excel in the transition game.
Trevur Smalls – Berkeley HS (Moncks Corner)
Smalls 6’5 has really filled out his frame in the past year. Smalls attacked the baseline today and hit some jumpers from all over the floor for the Stags. Smalls and White both run on the AAU circuit with TMP 17.
Traye Carson – Westside HS (Anderson)
Carson spearheads a trio of guards in the Rams backcourt. Carson connected on several three pointers today for Westside. Carson has a scorer’s mentality while on the floor. Carson will play this summer with Team South Carolina.
AJ Jackson – Mauldin HS
Jackson is a crafty point guard who has a nice mid-range jumper off the bounce. Jackson is always around the ball and remains vocal on the floor with his teammates.
Rashamel Butler – Ridgeland-Hardeeville HS (Ridgeland)
Butler plays down in Jasper County and not much of the Palmetto State has seen him play before. Butler has 2 brothers in the Jaguars program with him. Butler 6’3 left-handed really excels at that 8-10 feet range and attacking the basket. Butler averaged over 19 ppg last season for the Jaguars. Butler might play some this July period with the Carolina Pressure.
Devin Butler – Ridgeland-Hardeeville HS (Ridgeland)
Butler plays off the ball and can catch-shoot on the floor. Butler is a young high school senior at just 16 years old. Butler skipped the 7th grade. Butler averaged 11.7 for the Jaguars (23-2) last season.
Ta’Lon Cooper – Dorman HS (Roebuck)
Cooper is fiiting in nice with the Cavaliers after transferring back home after playing last season at Word of God (NC). Cooper recently picked up a scholarship offer from Radford according to Cavaliers Head Coach Thomas Ryan.
Kamal Desor – Dorman HS (Roebuck)
Desor transferred back to Dorman HS from nearby Boiling Springs. Desor is a great rim runner on the floor and a wide receiver on the football field. Young Harris (GA) (NCAA D2) extended Desor a scholarship offer after the Camp of Champs Camp.
Brandon Fortenberry-Smith – Chapman HS (Inman) (pictured on front)
Fortenberry-Smith was pleasant a surprise in the camp. Fortenberry-Smith 5’11 point guard never left the floor for the Panthers. Fortenberry-Smith really looked to push the ball up the floor and never seemed to let up in doing that. Fortenberry-Smith plays AAU with the South Carolina Heat he told Prep Hoops.
