17U Second Team All Grassroots (Spring Edition)
Based on performance and rising recruiting stock, the following five players have distinguished themselves as Second Team All Grassroots for the spring.
G – Amari Davis (2019), 6’4”, C2K Elite / Trotwood
G – Lunden McDay (2019), 6’3”, Nova (James) / St. Vincent-St. Mary
G – Ethan Conley (2019), 6’3”, Dayton Metro / Franklin Monroe
W – Jacob Drees (2019), 6’6”, Nova (Russell) / Hilliard Davidson
F – Tre Williams (2019), 6’6”, All Ohio Red EYBL / Woodstock Academy
– Davis is one of the most consistent scorers in the state. After averaging over 20 point per game as a junior at Trotwood, Davis has followed it up with a spring full of buckets with C2K. The combo guard uses his athleticism and acceleration to get into the lane. He uses the glass and his lift well to score the ball. Although the lefty doesn’t shoot too many 3s, his jumper is nearly automatic inside the arch. Davis has also made an impact on the defensive end of the floor with his versatility, length, and hands.
– McDay will rank near the top ten in our updated 2019 Prospect Rankings that are set to release a week from today. The STVM product is arguably the best two-way off-ball guard in the class of 2019. His combination of physical tools and basketball IQ places him very high on the charts. Ohio and Buffalo offered before his 17U season. McDay also has interest from Wright State.
– Conley is a small school kid who was 100 percent ready to measure himself against the area’s best once AAU season came around. He’s been rewarded with D-II offers from Ashland, Urbana, Cedarville, Findlay, and Tiffin. Both of Conley’s parents played basketball at Findlay; but that doesn’t mean he’ll definitely follow suit, as he has taken visits to other campuses already.
– Drees has also racked up a sheet of D-II offers over the spring. Urbana, Georgian Court, and Hillsdale joined Cedarville on his list of current options. The 6’6” wing is dripping with offensive versatility. He can be a primary ball-handler who facilitates offense or Drees can post-up against players of his size. His height, skill, and shooting ability make him one of Ohio’s most coveted D-II prospects.
– After reclassifying and joining Woodstock Academy, Williams is now swimming in a sea of scholarship offers. Bryant, Manhattan, Eastern Illinois, and USC Upstate are now vying for the former Reynoldsburg big man. He’s found his niche on All Ohio Red, the state’s no. 1 team, as an energetic big man with a strong frame. Williams secures rebounds, sets strong screens, explodes for two-handed dunks, and chases down loose balls.
