Ten Sure Fire Stock Boosters from Spring Evaluation Period
10 players who will rise in the next rankings update after strong performances during the spring evaluation period…
Lian Romero – Colorado Hoops
Being honest, I knew that Lian was good, but, not this good. He’s shown that he’s a hard worker that has worked on his game and will come back a completely different player as he’ll be asked to do a lot more if they want to repeat as state champions. For Colorado Hoops he’s been an blue collar guard that’s been aggressive. He’s shown that he’s a great two-way player. He’s always been a standout defender, but now his offense is catching up and that’s why he’s been so productive.
Caleb McGill – Colorado Chaos
Caleb has been phenomenal to start grassroot season and everyone is starting to take notice. Caleb’s a player that showed he could be a scholarship player at the next level during the season as he was a huge reason for his team winning a state championship, but this high upside player has really stepped it up with Chaos and proved that he’s one of the top overall players in the class and he’ll go up a spot or two in our next rankings update. He affects the game on both ends and his length and ability to change shots at the rim is what separates him.
Zach Anderson – Pluto Prospects
Zach is a pure athlete with raw upside that gets it done in a variety of ways. He can do it all and is a nightmare matchup for opposing teams with his ability to do it all. He can score, rebound, distribute and defend at a high level and has shown that to start out grassroots season. He’s had a few rim rocking dunks that has showed that he also can play above the rim when needed.
Peyton Westfall – Colorado Miners
Peyton is a flat out scorer. Not only does he create a ton of offense and get everyone involved, he balances the role of scorer and facilitator. He gets to the lane and when his team needs a bucket or a big play defensively, he’s a player that always seems to rise to the occasion. A few powerful dunks has many
Isaiah Hayes – Colorado Miners
He’s a player that proving he’s not only a strong complimenting piece, but can be a go to player when called upon and that’s on one of the strongest AAU teams in the state. He’s got a smooth shooting stroke and a budding offensive skill set with much more room for growth. With a strong finish to the summer look for Hayes to continue to trend upwards.
Bailey Verk – Colorado Chaos
Marking all the way back to season, this is a player that has stood out to me that I feel needed to continue his excellent play and he’d be able to make a significant jump in the 2019 ranking. He’s a big man that has a great feel for the game and uses his body as well as anybody in the class. He’s aggressive on the boards and possesses a soft touch that makes him difficult to cover on the block. He’s on a very talented team and is the glue guy that keeps the team meshing and I’m sure others will start taking notice. Consistency will be his biggest weapon.
Trevon Deden – Colorado Hoops
Off the radar young player that’s turning heads this summer and will have to be ranked really soon. He’s a fast, athletic duo guard that gets it done in multiple ways. Also an aggressive scorer that can light it up from deep. He’s a very capable defender that makes it difficult on opposing team’s ball handlers and is definitely seeing his stock rise as a result.
Thurbil Bile – Colorado Mayhem
Bile is an off the radar player as well that’s been incredible to start the summer and a player that I expect to be talked about going forward. He can literally do it all and now given the opportunity to prove himself has been one of the Mayhem’s hidden gems. With continued growth, he’ll easily jump into our rankings by summer’s end.
Seth Fuqua – Colorado Chaos
It’s known that Seth can light up a score board, but, one thing that was questioned was the level of competition and if he could against some of the best players in the state. Seth has answered that call and more as he’s proven that he can not only compete with the best, but excel. He shoots the ball exceptionally well, but also has been showing that he can run the offense as the lead guard as well and keep others involved. It will definitely be hard and there’s a lot riding on this summer –but, he could potentially move up a spot or two with continued success.
Christian Speller – Colorado Miners
We knew that Christian was good, but how he’s been playing this summer has really separated him and has his team playing their best. He’s dangerous in the open court as he’s a creative finisher at the basket and a downhill runner. He shows elite athleticism and plays hard on both ends of the court. He’s taken the show on the road and performed well in big tournaments out here and also Vegas and will surely see his stock rise as a result.
