Show-Me Showdown (Class of 2020 Wings)
Here are some of the top Class of 2020 wings from last weekend’s Prep Hoops Show-Me Showdown in St. Louis:
Ben Palacios 6’4″ Marcus Denmon Elite: A very skilled wing player who had an excellent weekend in leading his team to the championship game of the 16U tournament. He displayed consistent 3-point range throughout the weekend, but his overall game is well-rounded. He scored off the bounce and get plenty of buckets in transition. He played well with and without the ball in his hands.
Daeton McGaughy 6’2″ Dominators: A young power guard from St. Joe Lafayette who was very impressive during the weekend. With his strength and skill, he could bull-moose his way to the basket off the dribble or drop you off with a spin move and cross over to get a bucket. His combination of power and finesse make him a very tough player to match up with.
Chris Rose 6’2″ Arsenal Hoops Red: A strong, physical wing player who did a nice job at both ends of the floor. He is a good ball handler who was at his best when he was getting to the basket and playing through contact. He also put in a strong effort at the defensive end where he wasn’t afraid to get up and challenge people.
Keaton Gamble 6’5″ Willpower: Solid young wing player with good size and length. His overall versatility made him a matchup problem. He was very active with and without the ball. He did a nice job of making things happen.
Alex Brinkmann 5’11” T.E.M. Select: A small shooting guard from Borgia who plays with a lot of drive and tenacity. The young lefty was very good at getting the ball and getting downhill on the drive. There was no secret about what he was going to do. He’s coming hard to the basket and it is your job to stop him. He did a nice job of finishing throughout the weekend.
Josh Linehan 6’4″ Willpower: Young wng player from Logan-Rogersville who was very impressive in the first game that I watched him play. He has good size and a versatile skill set to go with it. He was aggressive in getting to the basket and scoring plus he had a nice shot from the perimeter.
