Run-N-Slam: Eric’s 2020 Top Performers
The last major event of the spring is done and Run-N-Slam provided us with a ton of looks at prospects in and outside the state of Indiana. With teams coming from all over the Midwest and giving us a good mix of EYBL, UAA, Adidas Gauntlet, and some of the top non-shoe sponsored teams in the country, we got some high level competition in the first weekend in May. Here is our look at my Top Performers in the 2020 class from the past weekend.
Zeb Jackson – 6’3 / PG / 2020 / Maumee Valley (OH) / C2K Elite 2020
Zeb is a long, lean guard with tons of speed and quickness. He’s scoring the ball at a high level mixing and matching everything he has with his shooting, slashing, and finishing ability. He’s really tough and plays at a level faster than everyone else. Showed dynamic separation ability and the jumper looks like a much better weapon than a year ago.
Yusuf Jihad – 6’8 / C / 2020 / North Farmington (MI) / Greenwood Elite 2020
Yusuf is a tall forward who is extremely mobile and more skilled than you think. Doesn’t get many paint touches as a true back-to-the-basket post but when he does, he’s really skilled with his right hand and can finish with a hook or a little floater off the glass. Good spin move and awesome mobility to create easier chances. Good frame that could add strength quickly.
Jeff Carrier – 6’5 / SF / 2020 / Mason County (MI) / Greenwood Elite 2020
Jeff is a tall wing with really good handles and shooting ability. Lean frame that needs strength but is more of a perimeter scorer than a driver. Showed a good side-step three and even mixed it up as a post player with a solid seal. Has good size and could grow a bit more too. Off the catch, he’s really effective and can put up points in a hurry.
Jimmy Scholler – 6’4 / SG / 2020 / Forest Hills Central (MI) / Greenwood Elite 2020
Scholler is a tall guard with good handles and creation ability. Drives the ball well and gets into the lane with ease. Solid athlete that can effect the rebounding game and has a little flair to him. Pass the ball well and likes to make high-level plays to create for others. Could play on the ball enough at the right level to give you size along the perimeter.
Jaden Ivey – 6’3 / SG / 2020 / Mishawka Marian (IN) / Indy Heat 2020
Ivey is a big guard with a dynamic game. Really athletic and has the handles to play on the ball quite a bit. Shifts his body well and can slash to the rim with ease. Showed a solid perimeter jumper and when he mixes that with his athleticism and driving ability, he can score it well at all three levels. Really impressive skill set with some high upside. Could become a top player in the class.
Victor Young – 6’3 / SG / 2020 / Muncie Central (IN) / Indy Heat Red 2020
Victor is a big guard with an aggressive game. Was really good rebounding the ball and winning 50/50 balls and finishing on the offensive end through contact. Drives to the rim well and can create contact and finish through it. Loves to draw contact and cause a lot of free throws because of it. While aggressive, much more under control than last year.
Qualen Pettus – 6’4 / SG / 2020 / Fort Wayne Northrop (IN) / Indy Heat Red 2020
Pettus is a big guard who can handle the ball and built as well as you could ask for. Really strong and wide shoulders with length. Likes to play physical but has the finesse to create and shoot from distance. Moves really well when he has the ball in his hands and can drive to create or score. Good upside with a body that can play at the college level now.
Mykel Bingham – 6’7 / PF / 2020 / Grand Rapids Catholic Central (MI) / Indy Heat Red 2020
Bingham, the younger brother of Marcus Bingham, is a bouncy, long and thin forward who has good mobility with tons of upside. Really skilled but lacks the strength right now to take advantage of it all. As he grows, he could explode with talent. More of a post scorer than a shooter but tough and likes to play physical. Still developing but huge upside.
Michael Saunders Jr. – 5’11 / PG / 2020 / Lawrence North (IN) / UA Grind 2020
Saunders continues to take over games this spring. He’s been playing really well and scoring the ball really well at the rim. He’s become a little more aggressive and tough at the point of attack and now he’s at the point where he can do it consistently against high level talent. If he can do it against elite length and athleticism in front of coaches, his stock could continue to rise.
Dillon Duff – 6’5 / SF / 2020 / Fort Wayne Snider (IN) / UA Grind 2020
Duff has had one of the biggest springs so far with his shooting and rebounding ability. He’s making a lot of plays in every game he sees. He’s got a really good mid-range jumper and the three-ball is working solid so far. He’s athletic and phsycial from the rebounding side of things and just keeps producing over and over again.
