Recruiting Report: Simon Banks (2019)
Many prospects in the class of 2019 have had pretty success careers to this point but you always come across guys that might have better college careers than in high school. That has always been my thought with regards to 2019 guard Simon Banks.
Banks is a really well put together person with some solid ability on the basketball court. His family has some talent in it as he older brother is a walk-on quarterback at Purdue and Student Body President. Those are big shoes to fill but Simon has that kind of ability.
Playing with Indy Heat 2019 on the EYBL circuit, Banks has provided a steady hand as an on-ball guard who has been a stabilizing presence for them. He is coming off the bench but has contributed 1.2 assists per game and 1.3 rebounds. He’s producing where he can and doing a good job of it.
He showed during the high school season, he can be a good scoring guard with a exceptional mid-range game. His perimeter jumper isn’t as strong but with the way he plays and forces contact, he finds himself either getting off a good shot in the mid-range for drawing fouls at the rim..
Now, he’s starting to gain a lot of interest from a variety of DII and DI programs. Boston, Navy, Army, Northern Illinois, Princeton, Southern Illinois, Florida Southern, and Lafayette have all been in contact with Banks this Spring. Simon said he will likely take visits in May to Navy, Army, and Boston.
