Recruiting Report: Rondel Walker (2020)
This Spring Rondel Walker made a big switch choosing to stay with the swoosh heading north to MOKAN. Walker has thrived in his role at the Point Guard spot doing a little bit of everything for the MOKAN 16U squad. Prep Hoops caught up with Walker to talk about his experience with MOKAN.
“Man it has been great playing with MOKAN,” said Walker. “It is an overall great experience, and it is well worth it. I love everything about it from the coaching staff all the way down to the programs overall organization values. It is a greatly ran program. It is my home away from home.”
Recently, Walker was offered by two NCAA Division I High Major programs per his high school coach and MOKAN, Rutgers and Utah State. The offers add to the longtime offer Walker has held from Mike Boynton at Oklahoma State. Picking up a couple of offers has boosted his confidence this Spring. The focus of Walker is showing coaches what he can do as a true Point Guard.
“My goal this summer is just to continue doing my thing and to showcase what I’m really about,” said Walker. MOKAN is a perfect platform for me to reach my goals. I want to enjoy everything and make the best out of the great position I’ve been placed in. When I first got serious about basketball around 7th grade that is what I have been groomed to be, a true point guard. A guard who can score, assist, and can run a team. I take pride in my passing and just really started to turn that corner in scoring around last summer.”
Walker is a prospect with a great chance to blow up with more NCAA Division High Major offers in July. He will be featured in the greatest grassroots tournament in the country, Nike Peach Jam. The MOKAN 16U easily qualified. They are a fun team to watch in large part due to the way they share the basketball. Walker sharing the basketball getting others involved has fit right in with MOKAN.
Walker now holds offers from Oklahoma State, Rutgers, and Utah.
