Recruiting Report: Robert Jones (2019)
Prior Lake junior center Robert Jones became the fifth player in his class to earn a high major offer recently when Penn State extended a Big Ten opportunity.
Right around the time that Jones was offered by Penn State he also grabbed offers from Denver and UW-Milwaukee to go with UND, UWGB, and Canisius offers. Jones is one of the top up and coming prospects in the Midwest at the moment.
“The offer from Penn State was special,” Jones told Prep Hoops. “It being my first high major offer, it carries a lot of weight.”
Not just with Robert, but with other schools as well. When D1 Minnesota takes the court once again in front of D1 coaches this summer there will of course be a load of schools watching, but many will also have Robert’s name circled on the roster as well as the coaches head to the gym. And playing D1 Minnesota has been special for Robert.
“Everybody just makes you better at all times, the coaches and the players,” Robert said. “The chemistry that we have in the two years I’ve been in the program, well three years with the program but the two years with this team, it’s been great. I just love it.”
Jones gave Prior Lake 13.5 points per game this winter as the Lakers became a top 10 team in Class AAAA. The team will be even better next year as Jones, Dawson Garcia, Sam Nissen, Jackyse Jacox, Dylan Bair, Collin Schoeller, and others get another off-season to get ready for a big year.
But before that, Jones and D1 Minnesota is in Chicago this weekend followed by the July open period.
