Recruiting Report: Richard Charles (2019)
Richard Charles upped the ante during his junior season.
The 6’3″, 185-pounder averaged double digits for the second straight year with 13.4 PPG for North Miami. He put together a 43-point performance in a win over Gulliver Prep last December where he shot an efficient 14 of 22 from the field.
Charles says he learned how to become a better leader and impact the game in multiple ways this past season.
No offers have come yet for Charles, but he’s drawing interest from FIU, Barry and Lynn.
He’s playing AAU ball for the Roaring Tigers, a program based out of Miami.
He pointed to his biggest strengths as his shooting range, driving ability and defensive tenacity in terms of covering the opposing team’s best player.
Charles is looking to improve his ball handling.
It will be up to Charles to lead the charge for the Pioneers in Class 9A this upcoming season. North Miami, a region semifinalist a year ago graduated five of its top six scorers. Charles was the second leading scorer, so expect his numbers to get a bump as the go-to player alongside fellow 2019 guard Brandon Monestime.
