Recruiting Report: Ray J Dennis (2019)
Class of 2019 guard Ray J Dennis from Oswego East continues to see his stock rise this spring with Kevon Looney Rebels. He will make a big splash in his debut in the 2019 rankings in June. This 6’2” combo guard is ultra-smooth with the rock in his hands. He is an excellent passer that reads defenders and finds teammates for clean looks. Works well in ball screens. Very effective in the drive and kick. Slick getting to the rim. Can hit threes especially off the catch.
Dennis spoke about his junior campaign at Oswego East.
“It went real good. I averaged about 20 points. We lost seven games and had a 20 win season. I am excited for next year. I got stronger. I was able to get to the basket more and make passes in traffic.”
What are the strengths in his game at this stage?
“I can really shoot the ball. I can also pass it. Love playing off the pick and roll.”
He is running on the Adidas circuit this spring.
“It is going good. I am averaging about 16 points and 4 dimes. Picked up some offers after the Gauntlet.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“I have offers Wisconsin Green Bay, Toledo, IUPUI, Cleveland State, Northern Illinois, and Vermont.”
Dennis mentioned several other programs showing interest.
“Butler, Holy Cross, Lehigh, and a little interest from Colorado.”
Any programs he wants to get out to for visits?
“I have been to NIU and Cleveland State so I will probably try to get out to the other four that have offered sometime soon.”
