Recruiting Report: Mason Walters (2019)
Mason Walters led Jamestown in scoring (16.3 points per game), rebounding (8.2), and blocks among other things as a 6-foot-6 junior front court player.
Walters shot an outstanding 64 plus percent from the field this winter taking 10-11 shots a contest. Jamestown had late season success that really should catapult them into the future.
“This year we were the first team from Jamestown to play in the WDA championship,” Mason said. “And we played two tough games at state. And we hope to be back at state next year.
“This year as a player I improved my outside shooting and my ball handling. And finishing around the rim.”
Walters is one of the main players now on the ECI Prospects top squad that will play in their second event this weekend when they travel to the Twin Cities for four games in the SPTS.
“This year the experience playing with ECI has been fun playing with new teammates and playing against good competition,” Mason said. “This summer we hope to get better each and every tournament.”
With each event playing strong competition and with each practice with some of the best players in North Dakota the focus for Mason is improvement.
“Before my senior year I would like to work on attacking from the wing and consistently shooting outside. And get stronger in the weight room.”
Walters is also starting to hear from a couple college basketball programs.
“I have talked with University of Jamestown and with Concordia-Moorhead so far,” Walters said.
