The class of 2019 is going to be a strong one for the state and it is backed by quite a bit of size. With a lot of options to choose from this year, one name that shouldn’t get lost in the shuffle is Luke Richardson.
The 6’6 forward from Lapel (IN) is a name to know in the class. He’s extremely mobile but tough and effective in the paint. Handles the scoring and rebounding load in the post really well but this Spring he’s shown a little more ability to push his game to the perimeter and open up some more avenues to his skill.
The best part to come out was that face-up drive ability. Still scoring the ball pretty well at the rim but when you have to defend him 15’ away from the rim, true posts are going to have a much harder time staying with him. His ball handling has improved to the point where he has some room to develop even more.
Colleges have taken notice of him this Spring with a number of them reaching out. Hillsdale, Manchester, Anderson, and Tampa have all already been in contact with him. There are already a ton of built in relationships with the family and local non-DI programs as Luke’s older brother, Jon Ross, just went through this not too long ago. He ended up at Rollins College in Florida but many local schools know Luke and the family already.
His brother was always more of a wing early on but Luke started out as much more of post player. With a little more development, Luke could become more of a wing but that ability to be physical down low and the strength and toughness he plays with will be coveted at the next level.
