Recruiting Report: Luke Heady (2019)
There aren’t going to be many players in the state as reliable and under control as Carmel (IN) guard Luke Heady. The 6’0 guard is one of the few players in the state that is a coaches kid, a trait many programs would love to have and it has suited him well to this point.
Heady has already a good track record as a shooter and leader who can make winning plays. He’s really comfortable leading a team and has the handles to get it up the floor and breakdown a defender for a kickout. He’s not a big drive-to-score player but way better as a catch and shoot or straight pull-up guy from the perimeter. Been known to get hot and has a knack for hitting a big three in the corner late in the game.
Luke’s father, Scott Heady, in the current head coach at Marian University and former State Championship head coach at Carmel (IN) previously. Scott is known as one of the best Xs and Os coaches this state has had in a while and Luke has obviously picked up on that quite a bit with his current game.
As expected, Luke is getting interest from his father’s new program, Marian. But along with that, he is picking up interest from Washington University in Missouri, University of Chicago, DePauw, and Lindenwood. Things are still early as he’s looking for his first offer but the way his skillset is laid out and with the way he plays the game, it might not be too much longer before he has some options at the college level.
