Recruiting Report: Kayden Key (2019)
There is something to be said for always playing for a winning team. There are plenty of players out there that can’t claim that but one player that does and has proven he’s a big reason why is Frankton’s Kayden Key. The 5’11 guard is one of the biggest winners in the state and having a State Championship already in hand with Frankton, he’s finding himself in another really good situation with his summer team, Indy Heat Red 2019.
Key just knows how to get things done. He has a pair of older siblings that have shown him the way with his two older sisters finding success at Indiana Wesleyan. Kayden knows the level, NAIA, and so far has been getting some initial interest from some small school programs. He says that he has already been talking with Indiana Tech and Anderson University.
While it is still really early, don’t be surprised if a lot more schools begin to show interest. Key is a guy that has been playing very well with Indy Heat Red 2019. While not the star, the team really doesn’t have a star, he’s finding his role and filling it well. Built more as a balanced scorer with shooting and driving, that perimeter jumper is where he can be a difference maker. He’s very adept at hit from distance and we have seen him on multiple occasions get hot and rip off a bunch in a row.
Where he adds more value is that ability to handle the ball while running the point but still being able to breakdown a defender and get into the lane to finish with toughness. He’s a winner and that toughness is pretty easy to see. It’s hard to miss and wrapped around all of that is just the culture he’s been around.
There are going to be plenty of prospects in this class for colleges to go after with it being such a deep and talented group, but things like culture, toughness, and winning will make a bigger difference and Kayden Key could be the beneficiary at the end of the day.
