Recruiting Report: Jacarlin Dennis (2019)
Leading scorer for Griffin High School and Griffin Grasshoppers AAU, Jacarlin Dennis, is a strong guard. Not only physically, but the 5’9 rising senior is mentally strong as well. “I want it all. I’m going to grind, and I don’t want anything easy,” he says. Currently averaging close to 30 points per game so far in AAU, Dennis gives his opponents fits. Last weekend at Hoopeen’s ATL Jam, Dennis averaged 27 points per game. Against the Macon Bucks, he recorded 35 points on 9/12 shooting from three-point distance. Due to his efforts, he earned All-Tournament honors and gained interest from Samford University.
His AAU coach, Coach Duck Richards, speaks highly of Dennis. Richards says, “He’s a strong point guard that can light it up from beyond the arch and play both ends of the court. He’s a strong guard and a super sleeper!” He also praises Dennis’s dedication to schoolwork as he boasts a 3.6 GPA.
Dennis hopes his AAU success continues over to the high school season. He says, “I want to win the region championship. We have a young team, but I am willing to put them on my back if that’s what it takes.” Griffin High School will play at Georgia State’s team camp this summer. After team camp, Dennis will be taking his talents to Samford University for their elite prospect camp. Besides Samford, he claims interest from Tennessee State and a few Division 2 programs. “I’m a little man but I have a big heart. All I need is one chance to prove myself,” he says. If Dennis continues his early success, I am sure the right school will come calling.
