Recruiting Report: Anthony Davis (2018)
Hopkins guard Anthony Davis is fresh off of a weekend playing with Midwest Unsigned, an AAU team full of 2018 Minnesota talent that played in two NY2LA events this spring.
The crowds at NY2LA’s event this weekend were well documented, and several coaches noticed Anthony as a quality athlete, defender and slasher. That was followed by scholarship offers from D1 jucos Mineral Area, Williston State, Santa Fe, and Lake Region State.
“I’ll probably go to a Division 1 junior college,” Davis told NHR tonight. “The offers came after coaches watched us play this weekend… the experience with Midwest Unsigned was a good one.
“Some of the jucos are talking about me just playing one year there, keeping my grades up and then transferring to a Division I four-year school.”
This is a route that has shown to be fruitful for several Minnesota players lately. Both Sam Baker (Benilde-St. Margaret’s, now NDSCS) and Dedoch Chan (Rochester John Marshall, now Miss. Gulf Coast CC) have been racking up Division I scholarship offers after spending one year in junior college. Both were also academic qualifiers out of high school.
Davis added that he is still open to talking with new colleges. The 6-foot-2 wing averaged 15.4 PPG for Hopkins as a senior.
