Prep Hoops takes a look at some of the latest happenings in the Palmetto State this week.
Jamal Burke has committed to play at Gulf Coast State College (FL) next season. Burke 6’10 post player from Greenville Southside HS helped the Tigers win back to back 3A State Championships. Burke played on the AAU circuit with Team South Carolina.
Robert Swanson will walk-on at Furman University according to Myrtle Beach Head Coach Craig Martin. Swanson 5’10 point guard averaged 19 ppg this season for the Seahawks. Swanson was ranked #49 in the Prep Hoops 2018 Class. Swanson scored 1,268 points in his career.
Brady Vest a sharp shooting guard from Myrtle Beach HS will play college basketball at Grinnell College (IA) (NCAA D3). Grinnell College still runs “the system” a high octane offense and press and trap defense all game long.
Koby Fulton will play college basketball at Lawson State Community College in Alabama next season. Fulton 6’3 point guard from Kingstree HS played the past 2 seasons for the Jaguars. Fulton originally from New York City averaged 10.2 ppg and 3.7 assists this season. Fulton played AAU last summer with Upward Stars Southeast 2018.
Travis Walters helped the Loris HS Lions to a (19-1) season this year. The Lions fell in the 3rd round of the playoffs to Wade Hampton HS. Walters will play next season at Erskine College (SC) (NCAA D2). Walters averaged 18.3 ppg and 14 rebounds this past season. Walters finished his career with 816 points and 828 rebounds.
Jamal Edmonson (2019), Devin Ramsey (2019), RJ Campbell (2019) and Randall Litmon (2018) will be running with Georgia South this month on the AAU circuit. Litmon a unsigned senior played this past season at West Ashley HS. Edmonson (2019) plays at Ashley Ridge HS. Edmonson averaged 21.6 ppg and 8.2 rebounds this season for the Swamp Foxes. Ramsey is a teammate of Litmon at West Ashley HS and Campbell attends Greenville Southside HS.
Donovan Belton will attend Winthrop University as student next season. Belton played at Camden HS.
Tim “TJ” Fladger will play football in college at the University of Virginia – Lynchburg. Fladger played his high school basketball at small school Creek Bridge HS. Fladger a quarterback in 3 seasons at Creek Bridge HS will look to move to wide receiver in college. Creek Bridge is located in Marion County in the Pee Dee.
