Prospect Spotlight: Kalen Williams
A top prospect in Georgia’s 2019 class, 6-foot-2 point guard Kalen Williams has started to field some Division I interest of late, and has a huge 17U summer on the horizon.
A slashing guard, who can can the 3-ball, Williams is already a guy that can score in bunches. He’s working on that D, and making himself a more well-rounded player before the July live periods come around.
“My strengths are getting to the basket and knocking down 3s off the dribble, and I’m working to improve my pull-up and defense,” said Williams.
His junior season with Lakeside Evans was good one, it was Williams’ most successful season yet with the Panthers.
“My school season was one to remember, it was my first time getting past the first round and to the elite eight,” said Williams. “And my role next year will be to score more and help rebound more.”
This spring and summer, Williams — Georgia’s 23rd-ranked 2019 — is running with Team Power 17U, “It’s going good, we are getting better every tournament,” he said.
Interest has been coming in from a bevy of college programs, but no offers yet. Williams mentioned; UNC-Greensboro, Wofford, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Alabama-Huntsville, Stetson, Morehead State, Campbell, USC-Upstate, and Middle Tennessee State ,as schools that are interested … “and others follow me on Twitter,” he said.
With the three live periods coming in July, Williams will have ample opportunity to show the college coaches just what he’s capable of.
“I’m looking forward to gaining some offers in July,” he said.
“And I plan on making my decision whenever I feel like I’m very interested in the college.”
