Prospect Spotlight: Cade Bleeker (2019)
Last season, Sioux Center’s 6-foot-3 guard Cade Bleeker proved that he was one of the very best 2019 prospects in Iowa.
He shot to stardom after averaging a co-team-best 15.3 points per game. The junior shot 54 percent from the floor and 41 percent from deep. A well-rounded player, he averaged two assists and 4.7 rebounds per game for good measure.
“I had a lot of fun playing this year with a great group seniors,” said Bleeker. “And I will need to be more a leader going into my senior year, so that’s how my role will change next year.”
This spring, Bleeker has been playing with South Dakota Attack 17U, and says he’s working to better his jumper.
“I’ve been working on shooting off the dribble this spring, and I feel like that is something that has improved the most from last year,” said Bleeker.
“It’s been a great spring playing with Attack, I’ve really enjoyed playing some really good competition in some of the tournaments we’ve been to.”
He added: “I’m excited to get out to a few more tournaments with Attack and get to a few shootouts with my school team.”
After the strong junior season and some success this spring, Bleeker is starting to hear from schools like Dordt, Northwestern, Sioux Falls and Mount Marty
“I’ve talked to a few other NAIA schools,” said Bleeker.
With his summer still ahead, and a senior season after that, Bleeker is focused on simply improving. The recruitment will then take care of itself.
“I don’t think I have a bunch of goals for the summer, I’m just going to out and play the best basketball I can.”
Caden Bleeker is ranked by Prep Hoops as a top 50 prospect in his class. To see the full ranking of Iowa’s 2019 class, click here.
