A 6 foot tall senior Guard, St. Henry’s Alex Westerbeck has a reputation as a shooter but is spending his 17u AAU season showing coaches that he can be much more than that. Alex averaged 7.3 points and 2.1 rebounds per game in his Junior season with the Crusaders. Those 7 points per game were good enough to be second on the team for a group that could be a dark horse contender in the 9th region in the 2018-2019 season. With Westerbeck running the team, St. Henry has a good chance to win the 9th Region All A tournament and make a run at the All A state title.
Alex is a point guard who handles the ball and distributes in addition to being a plus shooter. Westerbeck uses his handles to get past his man and into the paint to create for his teammates. His goal for his upcoming Senior season is to win the 34th district after being runners-up this past season. The point guard is currently playing 17u AAU for Kentucky Select. Earlier this month, Select made the final four of the AAU state tournament. Alex is looking forward to making a run at the AAU National Tournament and has high hopes for their chances of challenging for a national title.
Heading into his senior year for St. Henry, Alex is using his experience with Kentucky Select as more of a scorer to increase his scoring output for his senior season. Westerbeck has high hopes of winning the district and making a run through the regional tournament. With his eyes set on an All A state title and a possible run to Rupp Arena, Alex is spending the summer improving his game an working to draw the eyes of college coaches. With a big July, Westerbeck could earn college scholarship offers and get St. Henry in a position to challenge for 9th region supremacy.
