Prospect Profile: Kaleb Anundi (2019 Stayton HS/The Hoop Salem)
One of the more intriguing prospects in the Class of 2019 is Kaleb Anundi. Sure, a lot of it is due to the fact the rising senior plays at a smaller school like Stayton. But the 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward also has caught eyes with his combination of size and skills. Anundi made the decision to sit out the spring AAU season but he definitely hasn’t just been sitting around since the high school seaso ended.
“I’m doing a training program with my JV coach four days a week,” Anundi said. “I’ve been working on my shot, dribbling – basically everything that I need to do to get better for the college level.”
Anundi is planning on rejoining The Hoop Salem 17U team for some tournaments in July. There he hopes to build on a college recruitment that is already seeing him talking to a few schools. “I’ve been talking to Portland quite a bit and a little here and there with Oregon State,” Anundi said. “I’m also about to go on a trip to Hawaii and when I’m there I’m going to be visiting Chaminade. I’ve also been talking to a lot of D-III schools like Lewis & Clark, Pacific, and George Fox.”
With schools at all different levels showing interest, Anundi hopes to have some options to sort through. “Obviously D-I is the goal,” Anundi said. “But I want a school that has good academics. I’m not totally sure what I want to do but I think it would be cool to be a teacher and coach basketball.”
Anundi is planning on playing his senior season out before assessing what college options he has. He currently ranks as the #28 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2019 rankings.
