Prospect Profile: Colton Gorski (2019 Sandy HS/Team Nike Northwest Team Knight)
Need a bucket? Colton Gorski is your man. The cerebral 6-foot-2, 190-pound guard from Sandy definitely put the biscuit in the basket for Team Nike Northwest Team Knight at The Hoop Memorial Day Classic this past weekend, helping the team to the Gold Division Championship.
The tournament was Gorski’s final one of the spring, a nice cap to a good run. “It’s been pretty fun, traveling a lot,” Gorski said. “We started out kinda slow but won a couple of games and got our rhythm. I’ve had a few games with a lot of points and I’ve been learning a lot. I’m having fun.”
Gorski scored in a number of different ways at the tournament. He was able to shoot well from the perimeter as well as use his rugged frame to drive and score at the basket. An unselfish player, Gorski was able to balance his scoring ability with getting his teammates involved. “My best attribute is my driving and my vision,” Gorski said. “But I’m definitely working on my defense and my handles.”
College coaches will continue to look at Gorski this summer. He noted that he’s been invited to some elite camps, most notably one at Point Loma Nazarene. He’s keeping all of his options open but has some things in mind. “I’m definitely looking at good academics and how high I can play – that’s basically the goal,” Gorski said. “Wherever the road takes me. Obviously I’d love a scholarship but I just want to play basketball.”
“The rest of the summer I want to get better for school ball and get more exposure,” he continued. “That’s basically it.”
Gorski is currently ranked as the #37 ranked player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2019 rankings.
