This past season at Southridge, Brock Henry emerged as one of the top perimeter threat for the Skyhawks. This spring and summer, the athletic 6-foot-4 combo guard is looking to further develop his body and game with the Nike Team Northwest 17U squad and so far it’s been a smashing success.
“My team and I had good showings in Dallas and Anaheim and we’re only getting better,” Henry said. “I’ve been shooting the ball and attacking and getting to the basket. It’s going well.”
At Southridge, Henry mainly played out on the wing. With Nike Team Northwest, he’s gotten a chance to play both guard spots – and colleges have taken note. Since playing in the two tournaments in the spring viewing period, Henry has heard from schools such as Portland State, West Point, and Concordia (Ore.). He’s excited about the interest.
“They like my potential and my ability to get to the rim,” Henry said. “For a college program I’m looking for a good all-around school with good academics and a team that I can fit well into and contribute to and with a coaching staff that can help me grow as a player and person.”
Henry hopes to expand on his options the rest of this summer as he continues to work on his game. “I’ve especially been working on my athleticism and getting stronger during this offseason,” Henry said. “One of my goals for this summer is to keep getting stronger so I can increase the physicality of my play and also become more of a playmaker and create opportunities for my teammates as well.”
Henry currently ranks as the #25 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2019 rankings.
