Prep Hoops Series- Kansas City: 17U Standouts
Lots of 17U talent on display here in Lawrence at the Prep Hoops Series Tournament. Many states represented here but a LOT of talent from Kansas in the building. Here are a few 17U standouts that I was able to catch.
Kael Kordonowy (2019)- River City 17U
Kael was a beast in the paint on Saturday on both sides of the ball. Finishing well around the rim with multiple flushes and regulating opportunities at the rim defensively. Kael moves well for his size and is a good traditional five man at 6’7”.
Jacob Coleman (2019)- Mokan Select 17U
Jacob is an athletic wing who showcased his ability to do a little of everything.
He was effective shooting the ball off the dribble, slashed into the defense, and was good in transition. At 6’5” he’s both a threat on the wing and can impact the boards as well.
He racked up a monster game for Mokan Select 17U with 23 points, 5 assists, and three steals.
Dyelan Reed (2019)- SSA Elite Black 17U
Dyelan had a good showing on Saturday, creating multiple opportunities for the SSA Elite Black 17U squad. The 6’4” wing capitalized on his ability to get into the teeth of the defense and score.
Noel Coleman (2019)- KC Pacers Blue 17U
Noel has found his groove this summer for the KC Pacers Blue 17U team, showcasing his quickness, ball handling, and shooting ability.
Today was more of the same as he scored different ways and was a big part of the Pacers day 1 success despite a slow start to his game early.
Peyton Downey (2019)- KC Premiere 17U
The 6’6 wing/small forward had a solid showing on both sides of the ball. He stayed active on defense and disrupted smaller guards with his length while on the ball.
He showed that he can shoot the ball a bit or make plays in the paint and will be particularly dangerous once his explosiveness catches up to his footwork, which is solid.
