Prep Hoops Series : 2021 Players
Prep Hoops Series 3 was held this past weekend in Myrtle Beach at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center. Prep Hoops takes a look at the 2021 class from the Palmetto State. See what players stood out in performance from this past weekend.
Umar Lawson – Lakewood HS – 3 Ball Elite (pictured on front)
Lawson was a one man wrecking crew for his 3 Ball Elite squad. Lawson 6’1 left-handed guard got to the basket and slashed to the rack at will this weekend. Despite losing to Team Wall Southeast Marion 2021 Lawson scored 30 points in the game. Lawson connected on a few three pointers but really showed a nice mid-range game.
TJ Sanders – Marion HS – Team Wall Southeast Marion 2021
Sanders 6’4 is just Mr. Efficient around the basket. Sanders has a great knack to finish around the rim especially on the left-side of the basket. Sanders had a great season on the varsity level for the (21-8) Swamp Foxes who lost in the Lower State Championship this past March.
Sanders has the ability to play- inside out on the floor and drive the ball from the top of the key a lot of the times. Prep Hoops first saw Sanders last spring when in the 8th grade at Johnakin Middle School and he was playing with the Carolina Stampede on the AAU Circuit.
Marshall Myers – Cheraw HS – Team Wall Southeast Marion 2021
Myers 5’10 is just so smooth on the floor. Myers plays at such a even keel at all times. Myers a true point guard has good quickness up and down the floor. Myers averaged 13.5 ppg and 6 assists this past season for the (15-10) Braves. Myers is a high percentage shooter who can knockdown shots on a regular basis. Myers didn’t play on Sunday with Team Southeast Marion 2021.
Prep Hoops first saw Myers last spring when he was running with Big Shots South Carolina 15U. Myers was playing up at that time with just being a 8th grader.
Justus Boone – Sumter HS – Team Wall Southeast Marion 2021
Boone 6’4 helped the Team Wall Southeast Marion 2021 to a perfect weekend at (5-0) on the Grand Strand. Boone is coming around as a player. Boone keeps the ball up high and has good length and wingspan. Boone just needs to keep playing and building confidence. Boone scored 17 points in the win vs 3 Ball Elite.
Mequaje McDaniels – Westwood HS – Carolina Pressure 16U
McDaniels was a bit of surprise this weekend at the Prep Hoops Series. McDaniels 5’7 went for 35 points in the game we took in a win over Rock Nation Impact. McDaniels connected on 14 baskets from the floor without any from 3 point range. McDaniels connected on some baseline jumpers and constantly created havoc while harassing the other team with his defense. McDaniels played up from age group and helped the Carolina Pressure 16U win the championship.
McDaniels scored 22 points in the Championship Game vs the Myrtle Beach Phenoms.
