Prep Hoops took in the action Sunday here locally at the beach with the NTBA South Carolina State Tourney. Still trying to figure out how teams from outside of the Palmetto State play in the State Tourney. That’s for another day I guess. Here is some of the action we happen to take in from Socastee HS.

Kyle Watkins

Big Shots Elite South Carolina 2021 steam rolled through the 9th grade bracket winning 3 games on Sunday to win the NTBA State Championship. Big Shots Elite South Carolina 2021 defeated the Beach City Ballers 70-45 in the championship game. Lawton Fulford and Kyle Watkins led the charge for Big Shots Elite South Carolina 2021.

The Carolina Crush lost a tough game to 4 Real Sports Academy (Based out of Tampa, FL) early on the day Sunday. The Carolina Crush a Columbia, SC based team were led by Rolando “RJ” Howell (2020) and Jalen Canada (2019). Howell is the son of the late former Rolando Howell who played for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.

Howell 6’4 plays at Airport HS in West Columbia. Howell was all over the floor today with great activity and knocking down three pointers on the perimeter for the Carolina Crush.

Jalen Canada

Canada a shooting guard provided some deep range shooting for the Carolina Crush. Canada has a extremely quick shot release.

Andrew Gardner

Andrew Gardner a Lees McRae (NC) (NCAA D2) signee was suited up for the Confidence Cougars 17U. Gardner helped the Confidence Cougars to the championship game before losing to the Ascend Ballers 62-58.  Jevon Griffin, Tyron Stockdale and Alex Collins provided some scoring punch for the Cougars in a lopsided win over 4Real Sports Academy (Tampa, FL) 59-38.

Jevon Griffin

Griffin (2019) left-handed shooting guard plays at North Myrtle Beach HS along with Stockdale. Griffin likes to set up shop  in the corners. Griffin connected on a handful of three pointers today. Stockdale (2019) had a big football season last year for the Chiefs as a wide receiver.

Alex Collins

Collins 6’2 unsigned senior is just a loose change guy that always seems to be around the ball while on the floor. Collins has a nice-mid range game.
