Ty BaumgardnerBaumgardner Makes Return
Former state champion head coach Ty Baumgardner (2013 state champion at Olympic High School) spent the past 4 seasons in Suwannee, Georgia at Collins Hill High School. He was named as the head coach at Westwood High School in Northern Columbia, South Carolina yesterday. He inherits a team that returns all five starters including Team South Carolina point guard Russell Jones.
Carolina Day Names New Coach
Carolina Day School has named Glenn Taylor their new men’s basketball coach. Taylor is a UNC-Chapel Hill graduate and has spent over thirty years coaching basketball. The Wildcats return some of the top players in WNC next season with D’Angelo Elliott, Nevante Johnson, Devin Elliot, and Lee Langstaff.
Baker to 2018
Trinity Christian small forward Joey Baker has made the move to join the 2018 class at Duke University. With the addition of Baker, Duke looks to be in the talks of one of the best recruiting classes ever. Baker will join Zion Williamson, Cam Reddish, Tre Jones and RJ Barrett for a five-man class that rivals any.
Isaiah Todd Moves In
One of the top prospects in the country, Isaiah Todd out of Virginia has made the move to the HoopState. Todd will suit up for Trinity Academy in Raleigh, North Carolina next season. He is playing his summer basketball with Team Loaded NC.
Ron Davis Named Head Coach at Clinton
The middle school coach in the Clinton area, Ron Davis has been named the head coach at Clinton HS. Ron Davis will take over for Randy Jordan. He won over 80 games at the middle school.
