Jayhawk Invitational (Class of 2020 Point Guards)
Here is a look at some of the Class of 2020 point guards from last weekend’s Jayhawk Invitational in Overland Park, KS.
Kaimen Lennox 6’2″ NdaGym (Truman): A smooth lefty who was very impressive in the two games I watched. He is an excellent facilitator who did an great job of finding open teammates. Offensively, he was very good at changing speeds and directions and keeping defenders off balance. He finished well at the rim and knocked down open perimeter jumpers. He is going to be a good one.
Jayce Lance 6’0″ Team Rush Orange (Marshall): A tough young point guard who can make it happen as a playmaker and a shooter. His shooting range is deep and he can get it on the catch or in transition. He is strong with the basketball against pressure and does a nice job of finding open teammates. A coach’s son who plays with a lot of poise.
Maricus Grant 6’2″ Marcus Denmon Elite (Battle): An athletic combo guard who was one of the best defenders I watched over the weekend. His athleticism, length and tenacity enables him to cause all kinds of problems on the defensive end, whether it was on the ball or shooting the passing lanes. On offense, he is at his best when he is pushing the pace and attacking the basket.
Derrick McKay 5’8″ KC Magic Blue 17U (Confluence Academy): A quick little guard who is playing up at the 17U level over the weekend. He does a good job of keeping the pace moving in transition and he is also a good on-ball defender.
Coby Campbell 5’9″ Marcus Denmon Elite (Raytown South): An impressive young guard with good speed and quickness in the open court. He did a good job of getting in the lane where he displayed a nice float game.
