Hillsborough County Spring League: Top Performers From Alonso, Chamberlain, and Plant City
Spring league games are a time when most coaches just want to evaluate the talent coming back to their program but for Plant City and Alonso, its and opportunity to get more reps in. Both teams had very successful seasons and will be having most of their team coming back for a final year, they just want to fine tune a few things. Chamberlain on the other hand is searching for the starting pieces to build. Alonso was victorious over Plant City and Chamberlain, Plant City also defeated Chamberlain.
Top Performers:
Kamalii Findley | Alonso 2019 – had his way with defenders in both games, all game long. He shot well from deep, posted hard, and got to the free line often.
Sager Cavalier | Alonso 2019 – was very aggressive! He attacked the rim for highlight dunks and defended at a very high level. He’s a leader, he directed his teammates and guided them to wins.
Justyn King | Plant City 2019 – was also very aggressive. He and Kamalii made the game between the two very exciting and fun to watch as they battled each other. King shot well from deep and drove past defenders for thunderous dunks. He’s becoming a well rounded player. His stock has been rising all spring long.
Johnni Broome | Plant City 2020 – Broome is 6’8 and developing quite nicely. His length is his biggest asset, he uses it to shoot over the top of defenders. He rebounded well, blocked shots, and ran rim to rim.
Andrew Johnson | Plant City 2019 – looked impressive coming off screens, catching and shooting. He continues to surprise me with his athleticsm. He got up pretty high on a chase down block.
Anthony Holmes | Chamberlain 2019 – Alonso played a zone defense against Chamberlain! Holmes played in the middle of the zone and hit mid range after mid range all game long. He kept the game close because he was on fire with his jumper.
Justin Wise | Chamberlain 2020 – was very solid at the point guard spot. He pushed the rock every chance he got. He has an array of finishing moves. He also pressured opponents and forced the tempo on them.
