Francisco’s Finest: Pangos Spring Live (Part 1)
Francisco’s Finest: Pangos Spring Live (Part 1)
NORWALK, CA—Although the majority of the elite club teams were battling it out in Indianapolis and Atlanta, Dinos Trigonis lured some of the better 15U and 16U teams to his event—and the short trek up to Cerritos College was worth it.
Amound Anderson (Leuzinger) Club Team: Team Why Not 16U EYBL
2020, SG, 6-foot-3, 160 pounds
Joel’s Take: The slender lefty continues to elevate his game each and every game. Anderson can slither his way to the rim (excellent body control) and he has the dexterity to finish in a variety of ways. His shot is smooth out to 22-feet and he is especially efficient off the catch. Although he is an elite scorer, he can also facilitate the offense and his vision is excellent.
Tsalta “TJ” Wainwright (Culver City) Club Team: Team Why Not 16U EYBL
2021, CG, 6-foot, 150 pounds
Joel’s Take: Wainwright is a highly engaged guard prospect who makes plays with both the pass as well as scoring. He is first and foremost a scorer who has a deadly 3-point shot and his release is lightening quick. His ball handling is slick, but like most left-handers, going right will need some attention to detail. He needs to get stronger, but he does a collection of ways to finish in the paint.
Truman Gettings (Harvard Westlake) Club Team: Team Why Not 16U EYBL
2020, PF, 6-foot-7, 220 pounds
Joel’s Take: Gettings is a physical power forward who has solid basketball instincts and an evolving skill set that extends out to the elbow. He can face-up his defender and his 1st step is solid while he attacks the basket. His feel around the basket is quite good and he definitely has a nose for the ball. He needs to do a better job of finishing through contact, but overall he was productive at both ends.
Quincy McGriff (Santa Monica) Club Team: Team Why Not 16U EYBL
2020, PF/WF, 6-foot-5, 215 pounds
Joel’s Take: McGriff is a big-bodied forward who is always in attack mode. He pushes it well in transition and has the body control to finish through and around defenders. His touch around the basket is solid and he can finish through contact. He needs to continue to polish his mid-range skills as well as smoothen out his jump shot, but he is active.
Spencer Hubbard (Harvard Westlake) Club Team: Team Why Not 16U EYBL
2020, PG, 5-foot-9, 140 pounds
Joel’s Take: Hubbard is a crafty point guard who shows nice quickness and he changes speeds well. He keeps his head up in transition and makes good decisions both in transition as well as in the half court set. He talks to his teammates which exhibits his leadership qualities and his moxie is evident. If left open he can hit the 3-point shot and his release looks good.
Atin Wright (Lakewood) Club Team: Team Why Not 16U EYBL
2020, SG, 5-foot-11, 155 pounds
Joel’s Take: Wright is a chiseled combo-guard who can score at all three levels. He shows a very good burst off the dribble and is an explosive finisher (hangs in the air) with either hand. He can knock down the 3-point shot, but it’s streaky. Defensively he slides his feet well and has active hands.
Henri Adiassa (St. Monica School) Club Team: Team Why Not 15U EYBL
2022, PF, 6-foot-9, 190 pounds
Joel’s Take: Adiassa is young “big” with an immense upside. Extreme length, quick feet, solid hands, and he’s explosive. He knows how to set up on the block and he will pass it out of incoming double team. He can score over his left shoulder, dunks it with ease in the paint, and is a potent rim protector. He needs to get stronger (buckles against strength) and play wider on the block, but all the physical tools are there.
