EYBL Hampton Superlatives: Guards
HAMPTON, VA — Prep Hoops was in the house that Boo built for the fourth session of Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League. It’s time to recap what we saw during a busy weekend. Our superlatives series continues as we highlight ten of the top guards we saw.
’20 POSH ALEXANDER | NY LIGHTNING
Posh Alexander is a dynamite athlete, and a human highlight reel who owns a compact and sturdily built frame. We saw his ability to make shots vs. Team Takeover, and he could not be kept out of the lane.
’19 COLE ANTHONY | PSA CARDINALS
Is there a better guard in the 2019 class nationally than Cole Anthony? Probably not. The five star floor general showcased the complete package on both ends of the floor, and was an integral factor in his team clinching a Peach Jam berth.
’19 KHALIF BATTLE | NJ PLAYAZ
Khalif Battle put on a show in his team’s win over PSA to clinch their spot at Peach Jam. The Butler commit, who showed that can score it well at from all three levels, was one of the more athletic guards we saw all weekend.
’19 AL AMIR DAWES | NJ PLAYAZ
The NJ Playaz would not be where they are now without getting consistent play from their point guard Al Amir Dawes. The reliable lead guard can knock down shots consistently from deep and defends with tenacity.
’19 NOAH FERNANDES | EXPRESSIONS ELITE
Noah Fernandes led Expressions in scoring, assists, and steals both in Hampton and for the entire EYBL regular season. The underrated floor general was instrumental in getting Expressions into Peach Jam.
’20 LYNN GREER | TEAM FINAL
6-foot-3 point guard Lynn Greer exhibited all the tools to be a very good guard at the college level. He is very crafty, can stretch the floor, and displays excellent vision.
’19 ANTHONY HARRIS | TEAM TAKEOVER
Anthony Harris has the chance to see his recruitment expand to another level if he can continue to shoot it this well at Peach Jam. The versatile guard is shooting nearly 55% from three on the EYBL this spring.
’19 NOAH HUTCHINS | CITY ROCKS
Noah Hutchins showed that he is a strong, athletic point guard with a very good feel for the game. He was responsible for orchestrating much of his team’s offense with his ability to get into the lane and create for both himself and his teammates.
’19 JALEN LECQUE | NY RENS
Jalen Lecque lived up to his nickname of “Baby Westbrook” last weekend. The insanely explosive point guard was electric off the bounce, where he demonstrated elite potential as a playmaker.
’19 JUSTIN MOORE | TEAM TAKEOVER
Justin Moore is a flat out killer, and looks as healthy as we’ve seen in recent memory. The Villanova commit has quietly put together an excellent regular season on the EYBL.
