EYBL Hampton Superlatives: Shooters
HAMPTON, VA — Prep Hoops was in the house that Boo built for the fourth session of Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League. It’s time to recap what we saw during a busy weekend. We begin with a look at seven of the best shooters we saw.
TYLER BERTRAM | NY RENS
6-foot-4 guard Tyler Bertram was probably the most consistent shooter we saw this weekend in Hampton. You have to love his awareness off the ball, and his readiness to shoot upon the catch. Bertram once again proved that he is cold blooded in crunch time. He is not afraid to take and make big shots.
TYSON ETIENNE | PSA CARDINALS
At 6-foot-3, Tyson Etienne is a quick twitch athlete, and a high volume shooter. He gets great elevation off the catch, and his shot looks the same every time. We saw Etienne knock down 3 of 7 from downtown in a blowout win over Team Final.
JOE GIRARD | CITY ROCKS
Joe Girard‘s recruitment has expanded to a national level in the last 6 months, and it’s easy to see why given his ability to make shots from all over the floor. The 6-foot-2 sharpshooter, who we saw drain 4 of 6 from deep vs. CIA Bounce, is exceptional at creating his own shot off the bounce.
GIBSON JIMERSON | BOO WILLIAMS
Gibson Jimerson has solidified himself among the top shooters in the nation by shooting at a 45% clip from long range on the EYBL. The skilled 6-foot-5 wing went off against Houston Hoops, where he hit 6 of 11.
ADAM MILLER | MAC IRVIN FIRE
Adam Miller is ranked by Prep Hoops Illinois as the top prospect in the 2020 class, and after watching him this past weekend we saw plenty of evidence to back that up. The 6-foot-4 lefty, who ran the point for the EYBL 17’s, is a pure shooter. Miller is very adept at creating space off the dribble for his silky smooth jumper.
CASEY MORSELL | TEAM TAKEOVER
Virginia commit Casey Morsell lit it up throughout the spring for the top grassroots team in the country. The 6-foot-3 sniper finished out the regular season on a strong note in Hampton, and finished up as the team’s leading scorer. Morsell shot over 50% from the field, 80% from the line, and 45% from three.
’20 ADDISON PATTERSON | CIA BOUNCE
6-foot-7 wing Addison Patterson is rated as the top 2020 prospect in Canada, and he shot the cover off the ball this weekend. He’s skilled, athletic, and plays with a high motor. While Patterson’s percentages don’t indicate that he is a knock down shooter, he has the chance to become one as the reps add up.
