EYBL Atlanta Friday Standouts
We didn’t get the chance to make it out to Atlanta this weekend, but thanks to Flo Hoops we were able to stream the games that occurred on Friday night. Team Takeover advanced to 9-0 with a convincing win over PSA Cardinals, while Team Melo and Boo Williams each picked up important wins over their respective opponents. Here we recap Friday’s action with a closer look at six standouts.
COLE ANTHONY | PSA CARDINALS
Rated as the top point guard in the country by most recruiting services, Cole Anthony showcased his elite level paint getting and playmaking abilities on Friday night. The five star PG lived at the foul line, and could not be kept out of the paint. Anthony recorded 29 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds in a tough loss to Team Takeover.
ARMANDO BACOT | TEAM TAKEOVER
Armando Bacot looked sharp alongside Hunter Dickinson in the TTO front court. The 6-foot-10 power forward demonstrated good hands and positioning off the ball while working hard to run the floor and box out his man on the defensive boards. Bacot recorded 11 points and 6 boards in a win vs. PSA.
MEKHI LONG | BOO WILLIAMS
Even if he’s not scoring, Mekhi Long makes a tremendous impact on the game defensively. We saw this several times as he was able to secure rebounds in traffic and stay with smaller defenders after switching ball screens. Long’s versatility on that end of the floor gives Boo Williams a lot of flexibility.
JUSTIN MOORE | TEAM TAKEOVER
Part of the reason why Team Takeover made PSA’s defense look so poor was because of Justin Moore, who got off to a hot start with his perimeter jump shot, and didn’t slow down. The recent Villanova commit pumped in 26 points to go along with 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
JALEN RUCKER | TEAM MELO
Jalen Rucker knocked down several big shots for Team Melo in their overtime win over the LV Prospects. Perhaps the biggest came from the line, when he was fouled late in regulation with his team down three. Rucker, who scored a game-high 27 points, calmly hit all three to send it into OT where his team came out with a much needed win.
CAMERON THOMAS | BOO WILLIAMS
First thing we noticed about Cameron Thomas is that he has grown considerably since the summer. The skilled combo guard looked comfortable as a primary ball handler, where he saw the floor well, got into the lane, and distributed the ball effectively to his teammates. Thomas pumped in an efficient 38 points in the win for Boo.
