Breakdown of the All Southern Jam Fest Third Team
This weekend we were in attendance at the Southern Jam Fest in Hampton, Virginia presented by Hoop Group. The Southern Jam Fest is annually one of the best events during the dead period and this year it followed previous years with tons of talent. Below we take a look at the All Southern Jam Fest Third Team that the staff from Hoop Group selected.
2020 Ace Baldwin | Team BBC
Ace has been one of my favorite point guards to watch in the 2020 class. He is small, standing only at 5’11 but he plays a lot bigger than his actual size. This spring he is averaging 12.7 points and 3 assists per game. He has great vision at the lead guard position and that was something that was extremely impressive last weekend in Hampton.
2019 Robbie Beran | Team Richmond Garner Road
Robbie has been one of the biggest stock risers in the state of Virginia this spring. The rising senior from Richmond has drastically improved since this time last year. Standing at 6’8, he does a lot of his damage down low around the rim but is also capable of hitting jumpers from different spots on the court. For a 6’8 wing, he has great passing capabilities too.
2019 James Bishop | Team Thrill
The 6’3 point guard has been having a terrific spring on the Under Armour Association circuit averaging 22.7 points per game and this is a reason why he moved up to number three in our 2019 MD/DC rankings. He has been lighting it up from three point range, shooting it at 41 percent. Bishop is a pure bucket getter which has made him a big priority for multiple college programs.
2019 Karim Coulibaly | New World
Karim is a 6’8 stretch four guy that can shoot the ball well from all areas on the court. He does very good things on offense and defense even though it might not show up in the stat book. He has great versatility which allows him to guard many different type of guys on the court.
2019 Makhi Mitchell | DC Premier
The future Maryland Terrapin looked really good last weekend. He spent this past year at Montverde down in Florida and that helped him get into better shape. He and his brother just recently announced that they will be moving back to the DC area for their senior year. He has great size which allows him to take up a lot of space on the court which is beneficial for both offense and defense.
2019 Lester Quinones | New Heights
Lester is another guy that was one of the best shooters last weekend in Hampton. He has become a household name in the recruiting world as he is a shot making king, he can pass the ball if needed and plays good defense. High majors will be all over him until he is ready to announce his college decision.
2020 Isaiah Todd | Team Loaded NC
Earlier this spring Todd, who is one of the top ranked sophomores in the country announced he is moving to North Carolina and that is one of the reasons why he made the switch to Team Loaded NC. Todd has excellent size for a rising junior and is a true NBA prospect right now. He brings outstanding length to the court which allows him to do everything a wing needs to do and that versatility he has allows him to play good defense. One thing that has improved significantly is his shooting.
