Breakdown of the All Southern Jam Fest Second Team
This weekend we were in attendance at the Southern Jam Fest in Hampton, Virginia presented by Hoop Group. The Southern Jam Fest is annually one of the best events during the dead period and this year it followed previous years with tons of talent. Below we take a look at the All Southern Jam Fest Second Team that the staff from Hoop Group selected.
2019 Precious Achiuwa | New Heights
Precious continued playing well this past weekend in Hampton. On the Under Armour Association circuit he is currently averaging 13 points and 8 rebounds per game. He is a huge mismatch for a lot of teams down low in the paint and scores a lot of his points around the rim. He is mobile down low in the post and can finish strong at the rim. Defensively, he can cause issues for other teams as he has 17 blocks in eight games this spring.
2019 Eric Dixon | WER1
Credit to Jay Wright and his staff for landing a very early commitment from 2019 big man Eric Dixon. Dixon is an absolute beast down low and is one of the strongest guys in the 2019 class. He runs the court well for a big man and does a good job drawing contact to get to the free throw line. He can also score the ball with his back against the basket and does a great job with finishing through contact. Dixon is going to be a guy that gets a ton of buckets in college while backing down smaller dudes and finishing strong at the rim.
2019 Hakim Hart | Philly Pride
Hart was one of the best shooters this past weekend in Hampton. He hit many three’s for his team and this does not come to a surprise as he is currently the third leading three point shooter on his team. There was not much anybody could do to stop him from his shooting as he was on fire all weekend. He also looked good with the ball in transition. This spring he has picked up offers from LaSalle and Quinnipiac.
2020 Earl Timberlake | Team Loaded VA
Earl made the move from Team Takeover to Team Loaded VA this spring and he has been one of the main guys for the adidas gauntlet team from Virginia. Earl is one of the most versatile guys in the 2020 class and one of the most athletic. He uses his body and quickness to beat guys to the rim and can finish with authority. He is a guy that will score, rebound and pass the ball. Expect Earl to be near the top of the national rankings by the time he is in college.
2019 Jake Van Der Heijden | Team Wall
I first saw Jake this past winter and he stood out right away with his touch and his shooting. After seeing him that first time, he has improved more and more each time I have seen him play. With him making second team this weekend, it shows how much work he has put in to get better. He is another guy that was one of the best shooters this past weekend. He had no offers heading into this AAU season but with this improved play he has picked up six offers since the first live period this year.
2019 Anthony Walker | Team BBC
Anthony continued his great spring for Team BBC this past weekend in Hampton. He has scored in a variety ways of all spring and that has really caught attention of multiple college programs. He has a very high motor and that helps him on defense as he can pretty much do it all when it comes to good defense.
2019 Sean Yoder | East Coast Power
Sean had a huge weekend for his team as they were part of the biggest upset of the tournament when they beat a very talented Team Loaded NC. He is a guy that can see the court very well and part of that is because of his high basketball iq. His shooting was on full display too as he hit some big time shots.
