2021: Names To Know
As the Spring AAU season comes to a close, we have come across a few names that are either new or have played their way onto our radar and now we have locked in on them for the July Live Periods. We highlight some of the best here.
Blake Barker – 6’0 / PG / 2021 / Columbus East (IN) / Grassroots Indiana 2021
Barker is one of the better ball handlers in the class and he’s got that drive and aggressiveness to really shine. He knows how to play well for his size and is only going to get better. If he can show more offense down the road, he’s got a chance.
Christian DeCosta – 6’7 / C / Brebeuf Jesuit (IN) / Grassroots Indiana 2021
DeCosta is a big forward with a good frame and length to boot. He’s got all the physical tools you want just a little raw right now. Things could play up for him really soon as he gains a little more confidence and strength.
Jackson Paul – 5’10 / PG / Churubusco (IN) / Indy Heat Red 2021
Jackson is among the toughest guards you are going to find in the class. He’s really quick with the ball in his hands and does well driving to setup his pull-up game. Lacks a ton of size but knows how to play that way and sets the tone really well for how fast he plays.
Jayden Taylor – 6’3 / SG / Perry Meridian (IN) / UA Grind 2021
Jayden is among the most skilled players in the class with the most upside. He’s really adept at shooting and driving to the rim for his age and balances that out really well. He’s got a ton of athleticism and can play fast and above the rim. The complete package and with time should turn into a high-end prospect.
Matthew Williams – 6’4 / PF / Southwestern-Hanover (IN) / DistinXion 2021
Matt is a big forward with some versatility. He’s really good playing off the ball and posting up while still being able to step out and shoot it if left open. More faced-up inside the arc with his game but does well with his ball handling where he can makes plays from there.
