This is a quick profile series of some of the top names in the class along with our overall thoughts and projections moving forward. Today, we introduce Blackhawk Christian’s Caleb Furst.
Caleb Furst
HT: 6’8
POS: PF
HS: Blackhawk Christian
AAU: Indy Heat 2021
Furst is one of, if not the most ready players in the Midwest in the 2021 class. He’s extremely productive and the body is already there to go. The 6’8 power forward is an adept player in the post as a really mobile and fairly athletic prospect. He’s going to not only be able to go through you with his strength and frame but also around you with solid footwork and length.
Caleb has a really advanced skill set already, able to stretch out onto the wing and provide some perimeter jump shooting and passing ability. As he develops, his jumper should become more of a weapon for him and if he really takes off, you should see him able to drive from the perimeter.
However, the post finishing ability is where he dominates right now and he gets a lot of that because he is just so much further along with the development of his body and frame that the skill is actually playing well above it’s level right now. While others will likely catch up and become better defenders against him, I think he has enough tools in his bag to stay ahead of the curve.
What To Watch For: Of the things to really watch for with Caleb, I think the part that is going to be most prominent is the massive list of offers he’s about to pick up. He’s already got an offer from Purdue and that isn’t going to last much longer. Wouldn’t be shocked if LM and MM programs just don’t even offer and he picks up a bunch of local High-Major offers by the end of the Fall.
