Breakdown: As of today, there are 46 prospects committed to NAIA schools. Of those 44, only 4 are to out of state schools. This isn’t a big surprise as the strength of the in-state schools is so strong. They usually load up on talent and take big classes every year so a school like Bethel College who has 6 commits or Saint Francis (IN) that has four, is fairly typical.
Of those schools that have good classes coming in, I think Marian University has the best. Hayden Langkabel was stellar at the end of the season, Tyler Watson was one of the more under-the-radar players in the class, and Luke Gohman seemed to put things together in his final year at Floyd Central. Along with them, Saint Francis (IN) and their class of Brandan Johnson, Jalan Mull, and Jeff Reynolds is really strong. IU-South Bend had one of their better in-state classes landing Miles Tracy, Will O’Connor, and Brady Powers.
Maybe of the better recruiting jobs this season was with Huntington University who landed 3 players from Oak Hill (IN) alone, among them standout Caleb Middlesworth. IU-East should get a cap tip as well after landing a four-man class of Garrett Silcott, Donald Lee, Ethan Helton, and Steve Miller.
Overall, this group in 2018 has given a few programs like Huntington, Grace, IU-East, IU-South Bend, and Marian guys that will be impact players from the start.
