2019 Blanche Ely F Wilkenson Isnord nearing a decision
A 6’8″, 220-pounder, Wilkenson Isnord is a legitimate Division I athlete.
The 2019 Blanche Ely forward is expected to make his college decision next weekend, he says.
Isnord has spent the spring with Team Breakdown polishing up his game.
He has offers currently from FGCU, FAU, Appalachian State, James Madison, Tennessee Tech, St. Bonaventure, Austin Peay and Buffalo.
Also, interest has come from Charleston, Dayton, UMass, Murray State, West Virginia and Kent State.
Isnord was an integral part to Blanche Ely’s Class 8A state title win, 77-54 over Creekside this season. He was a defensive leader and a guy who mixed it up.
“It took me some time to understand what my role was on our team and what was needed from me to help us win but I was dedicated to one thing and that was getting better,” he told Prep Hoops. “I had coaches yelling at me every day pushing me to run faster, play harder, box out, rebound with two hands and get low on defense and play strong. Every day was a learning experience. I was dedicated, working hard and trusting the process. Everything started falling into place around December. We made a run and never looked back.”
Isnord says he feels more comfortable playing off the block and he has a better feel for what it is like moving away from the basket. He’s aiming to be a stretch 4 for the upcoming years and is excited about how his game can expand over the next few years.
He pointed to his shot blocking, rebounding, scoring in the paint and hustle as his biggest strengths. He’s aiming to improve his shot and handle the ball more comfortably.
Isnord is a raw big man who has plenty of hops and energy on his side. He loves to fight for boards and make the most of every possession inside. Look for him to land at a very good program this fall.
