Week 1 Viewing Period Breakdown
As the second and final NCAA live viewing period of the spring is set to kick off this weekend, we take a look at some of the Oregon players who stood out in week 1 playing in tournaments in Bellevue, Dallas, and the Bay area.
Marcus Tsohonis 2019 6’4 Guard Seattle Rotary/Jefferson HS
The talented combo guard who was the PIL Player of the Year continued to enhance his reputation with a break out performance in the Dallas EYBL event. Tsohonis averaged 16 points 6.5 rebounds, and 4 assists over the course of the tournament. The Democrat whose highest known offer is from USC of the Pac 12 is likely to expand his offer list by the end of his junior year.
Aaron Deloney 2019 6’1 Guard Rose City Rebels/Grant HS
The recently crowned state champion exploded on the recruiting radar of most of the west coast with a monster performance in Dallas. The lightning quick guard averaged nearly 25 points a game while displaying a competitive streak that impressed many observers. Deloney entered the EYBL with an offer from Portland State and immediately picked up another from Eastern Washington along with increased interest from Marquette, UMass, Utah State, Pepperdine, Weber State, and more.
Bostyn Holt 2018 6’5 Wing Nike Team Northwest/Roosevelt HS
The unsigned senior played well in Dallas in the platinum division of the Big Foot Hoops event. The versatile wing continues to improve and is a likely candidate to pick up a late D1 offer or find a home at a quality national juco program.
Micah Garrett 2020 6’4 Wing Nike Team Northwest/West Linn HS
Garrett, playing in the 16U EYBL event in Dallas, showed an improved shooting stroke on his way to averaging 20+ points per game in keeping his team close in a slate of competitive games. After the breakout weekend, Garrett is hearing from Washington State, Oregon, State, Montana, and more.
Jaden Nielsen Skinner 2019 5’10 Guard The Hoop Salem/South Salem HS
The Portland State commit had a big weekend at the Nor Cal Live event in the Bay area. “Skinny” continues to refine his game and has established himself as the best pure point guard in Oregon.
Zack Baugher 2019 6’7 Forward Team Jones Oregon/Santiam Christian HS
The small school standout turned heads last weekend in the NW Premier Showcase in Bellevue. The unassuming Baugher displayed an effective shooting stroke to the three point line that has generated interest from a variety of NAIA & D2 coaches.
Josh Angle 2019 6’2 Wing Team Fly/Lake Oswego HS
Angle’s shooting ability was on display over the weekend in Bellevue as he lead Team Fly to a solid first tournament finish. Angle also flashed improved athleticism and the ability to guard quicker players on the perimeter, both will be key as his recruitment picks up.
Aidan Anastas 2018 6’6 Post Team Fly/Lincoln HS
Often overlooked during the high school season by some talented perimeter players at Lincoln, Anastas game was on point this weekend. He showed improved shooting range and impressed D3 and juco coaches with his motor. His interior defense and rebounding ability will make some college program very happy.
