The Proving Grounds: The 15U Preview
The 15U division at the Proving Grounds is also 42 teams deep and it has a really strong field of teams from around the Midwest. Games start tonight, we preview the 15u today.
Who: The 42 squads include the following number from the area states: Nebraska (6), Minnesota (21), North Dakota (4), Illinois (2), Iowa (2), and Wisconsin (7).
What. From Minnesota the second ranked Heat Tauer team wants to prove they should be the number one ranked team in Minnesota and if they can earn a championship this weekend to go with the title in St. Cloud and the solid showing in the Pitt Jam Fest they would have made a good case. A top local contender to take out Heat Tauer? That would be 5th ranked West Central United. Last weekend United won the Spring Jam in Sioux Falls beating a pair of top ten teams from Minnesota building on a 7-2 season. Ranked number eight in Minnesota, Fury Poppen has something to prove as well after last weekend’s loss to United. Also from Minnesota is 14th ranked D1 Minnesota Prospects, 15th ranked Fury Syverson, 17th ranked Heat Bohrer, 18th ranked Heat Wiley, and 19th Heat Inniger. That’s nearly half of the Minnesota top 20 at 15u. There are some other Minnesota teams in this event that are dangerous. Team Tyus 14s, the Grassroots Jett squad, Mpls FAB, Hustle Hard, and the Twin Cities Pirates are among those to watch.
And from outside of Minnesota the squads from Wisconsin and Nebraska will all have a chance to make a run this weekend as well. A couple Omaha Crusader squads are in Minnesota along with Omaha Elite and Team Nebraska which is four of the better 15u squads from the Cornhusker state. From Wisconsin there is the Playmakers, Wisconsin Academy, and Wisconsin Blaze among others.
When: Tonight, Saturday, and Sunday.
Where: All of the 15u games will be at Bloomington Jefferson High School.
