The AAU season kicked off in North Augusta, Georgia over this past weekend and some of the top teams in the region showed why they have the lofty expectations with a strong showing at The Icebreaker.
Team Wall SE 17U took home the trophy from The Icebreaker in the ACC Division.
The Team Wall 17U (Adidas Gauntlet) team went 4-1 over the weekend at the Icebreaker. Strong showing from El Ellis (2019 guard) averaged 14 points per game and Chester Makoi (2019 F). Zavian McLean was also a player who stood out with his scoring ability, and averaged 12 points per game. DJ Robertson averaged 13 points per game on the weekend. Robertson hit the game wining basket to push Team Wall over Team Charlotte the 17U Boys Big 10 – Gold Championship
Trey McGowens-6’3, 2019 G (Georgia Stars)-McGowens proved to be one of the borderline high major talents this spring/summer that made the jump to legitimate high-major recruit. He can jump out of the gym, finish with contact and is steadily improving his shot. He can go left or right off the dribble, has good court-vision, sees the whole floor, gets rebounds, and is a strong defender with long arms.
DJ Burns-6’9, 2019 F (Georgia Stars)-Skilled big man that has strong footwork and can knock down the mid-range shot consistently. He is a good rebounder and runs the floor well for his size.
Jaden Seymour-6’5, 2020 W (Team Wall Elite)-Seymour first came on the PrepHoops radar with his showing at The Justin Byerly Upstate/WNC Showcase in Easley, South Carolina last year and he showed a glimpse of what kind of player he can be. Long and athletic, Seymour excels at getting buckets in transition and blocking shots.
Christopher Nobles-6’5, 2020 SF (Juice All-Stars)-Long and athletic, able to play on the wing or in the paint, big-time athlete that can put the ball on the floor and can score from all spots on the floor.
Tai Giger was impressive for Team South Carolina at The Icebreaker. Proved he is a legitimate late D2 caliber player that is strong and tough and knows how to score the ball. Had a strong senior season at Carolina Day and will be a solid pick-up for a D2 school or JUCO team this summer.
