Spring Recruiting Roundup: Pre Live-Period Notes
This is always an interesting time of year, as there are a lot of things going on before the live period. While the college coaches are in their offices trying to make key decisions, players are back in their home gyms getting better with their grassroots teams. With each week this spring, we are going to take a look at the latest recruiting news from DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
ADAMS COMMITS TO HURLEY, HUSKIES
Calvert Hall’s class of 2018 sharpshooting scoring guard Brendan Adams committed to UConn earlier this week. This move was not unexpected given the fact that he was previously committed to URI, where Huskies’ Head Coach Dan Hurley arrived from.
WCAC POY REOPENS RECRUITMENT
Xavier Johnson has reopened his recruitment. The former Nebraska commit should now be considered one of the top available playmakers in the country.
HORSEY DECOMMITS FROM DRAKE
Joppatowne ’18 guard Montrell Horsey has reopened his recruitment. He is an underrated lead guard who can certainly contribute at the division one level.
THE “GOLDEN” FINAL FOUR
Former Pitt commit Bryce Golden has narrowed down his recruitment to four schools. Syracuse, Butler, Georgetown and Illinois are the programs still in the mix for the energetic power forward.
JEFFERSON TWINS LAND AT THE MOUNT
2018’s Malik Jefferson and Jalen Jefferson of Hopewell recently de-committed from UMES. Shortly after, the twins committed to Mount St. Mary’s. Head Coach Jamion Christian continues to do an outstanding job recruiting local talent.
IBN WILLIAMS PICKS COPPIN STATE
Bishop McNamara ’18 guard Ibn Williams has committed to Coppin State. Juan Dixon is getting a skilled playmaker who can score when asked.
COLE MEADOWS TO CONCORD
Giles ’18 wing Cole Meadows has committed to Concord. The athletic 6-foot-5 wing has a chance to be a very productive player at the next level.
WASHINGTON ADVENTIST LANDS HOPKINS
Woodbridge ’18 forward Derrick Hopkins committed to Washington Adventist. Hopkins was highly coveted by a host of local programs.
MITCHELL TWINS TO ATTEND WILSON
Makhi Mitchell and Makhel Mitchell are set to attend Woodrow Wilson High School next season. The twins, who are both committed to Maryland, attended Montverde Academy in Florida this past season.
