Show-Me State standouts in the NBA Playoffs
As the NBA Playoffs begin, here is a look at what the former Show-Me State standouts did in their respective opening playoff games over the weekend, as well as their regular season production:
Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics): The former Chaminade College Prep All-American had 19 points and 10 rebounds in the Celtics overtime victory over the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Tatum became the youngest player ever to achieve a double-double in his first NBA playoff game. For the regular season, Tatum averaged 13.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 47 percent from the field, 43 percent from 3-point range and 82 percent from the free throw line.
Brad Beal (Washington Wizards): The former Chaminade College Prep All-American had 19 points and four assists in the Wizards’ loss to the Toronto Raptors in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Beal is coming off an excellent regular season where he earned his first All-Star Game selection. He averaged 22.6 points, 4.4 rebounds 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 46 percent from the field and 37 percent from the free throw line.
Otto Porter, Jr. (Washington Wizards): The former Scott County Central star had nine points and five rebounds in the Wizards loss to the Toronto Raptors in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Porter enjoyed a very productive season, averaging 14.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 50 percent from the field, 44 percent from 3-point range and 82 percent from the free throw line.
O.G. Anunoby (Toronto Raptors): The former Jefferson City star had 12 points and two rebounds in the Raptors victory over the Washington Wizards in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference playoffs. The second-year jumping back forward played a big role in the Raptors’ drive to the best regular-season record in the Eastern Conference. He averaged 5.9 points and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 47 percent from the field and 37 percent from 3-point range in the regular season.
Alec Burks (Utah Jazz): The former Grandview High star scored 10 points in the final two minutes of the Jazz’ loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. For the season, Burks averaged 7.7 points and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 45 percent from the field.
