Recruiting Report: Xavier Betancourt (2019)
Xavier Betancourt made his way down to Florida from Pennsylvania this season.
The 2019 guard went from William Allen in Allentown, Pa. to Freedom in Tampa, Fla.
At 6’2″, 160 lbs., he has impressive handles and speed. No offers have come yet for Betancourt, but he says USF has shown interest in him.
He called his junior season at Freedom a humbling experience where he learned that whoever has the most hours in the gym gets the most buckets.
This summer, Betancourt is running with Balkman Elite. He says the team is tough, everything is earned and nothing is given.
In terms of his biggest strengths, Betancourt pointed to his IQ and finishing ability. He says he’s constantly working on his jumper and in-game confidence.
I expect Betancourt to make a splash this summer for an athletic Balkman Elite group. He is a rather unknown in Florida, but that should change if he’s able to put together a couple good performances in AAU ball.
