Recruiting Report: Tyler Cochran (2019)
Bolingbrook 2019 combo guard Tyler Cochran is 6’2” thick guard that is super productive. You have to love the competitiveness and toughness that the guard brings to the table. PrepHoopsIllinois saw him play with Hoopers 17U during the first live period at the Midwest Throwdown where he attracted a handful of D1 coaches. At times he settled for some forced jumpers, but in the second game he started off hot making them. He was solid scoring, but was more impressive showing his well-rounded game. Rebounded outstanding from his guard position and had crisp passes distributing for Hoopers! Needs to trim down some to max out his ability. Cochran is a low-major prospect with mid-major upside.
Where does he feel his game has improved the most?
“I feel like I expanded my range a lot more. I had a lot more confidence handling the ball and getting to the rim.”
He spoke about what he can bring to a team at the next level.
“I can lead a team. I can shoot from the outside. Handle the ball and give the point guard a breather. I play hard.”
Cochran has three offers on the table!
“Northern Illinois, Toledo, and Western Michigan.”
What stands out about the trio?
“Western Michigan plays a real tough style of basketball. Their coaches give them a lot of freedom. Same thing with NIU and Toledo. They run through their guards and let their players control on the floor.”
Cochran has a pair of schools that haven’t offered as of yet that he would like to get out to for visits this spring.
“Miami (OH) and Missouri State.”
Currently he sets at the #18 overall spot and #6 point guard in the 2019 PHI rankings.
