Recruiting Report: Evan Taylor (2019)
Class of 2019 small forward Evan Taylor is a high academic 6’6” wing from Glenbard West that has an extremely versatile game. The junior can score at multiple levels, but is most effective in the mid-range where he can pull up or make a quick move with a couple dribbles to get to the rim. Handles it well in the open floor. I am a huge fan of his passing. We saw it during the high school season and he showed that again this spring. Rebounds well for his position. Taylor is a mid-major prospect.
How was his junior season at Glenbard West?
“I thought it went pretty well. We improved a lot from last year. I learned how to become a leader on the team and handle the ball more. Doing everything for the team.”
He saw improvements in several areas of his game.
“Definitely dribbling. Making sure I can find my teammates. I think I have been doing better passing. Shooting from mid-range. I have been doing a good job of giving myself space to get my shot off.”
Taylor updated us on his recruitment.
“Lately a lot of Ivy League schools like Brown, Penn, and Dartmouth have been calling. Also Colorado State, Kent State, and a lot of others.”
He holds a handful of offers to date.
“Loyola, Illinois State, UIC, Southern Illinois, UAB, and Rider.”
Holy Cross is a school that he recently took an unofficial visit.
“It went really well. I liked everybody on the team. They seemed a lot like me. I think I would fit well with them. Academics is really important so that would be a good fit. I loved the coaches and school in general.”
Any other schools he wants to get out to soon?
“I want to get out to probably Florida Atlantic. Also want to get out to Brown and Dartmouth and some of the Ivy League schools because I could see myself going there.”
