One of the most athletic, high flying and overall most exciting players that I have seen so far this spring has been 2019 Christian Brown, of Upward Stars. Brown is currently ranked as the number one prospect in our 2019 South Carolina rankings and 24 in our national rankings. Brown is a tremendous athlete with a high motor which leads to him excelling in transition. He can finish well at the rim and loves to bring the ball up the court and attack the lane. He has one of the best motors in the 2019 class and can get rebounds on both ends of the floor.
Brown touched on how this past winter was a good learning lesson for him, “My high school season was not as I expected because of a lot injuries which led to a lot of learning curves but now that AAU is starting I can take those things I have learned and use it to my advantage so overall it was a great learning lesson.”
He is hoping to take those learning lessons to accomplish some significant goals this AAU season, “I am with a new team so I want to get better with my ball handling and I want to work on my decision making. I have a high motor so I kind of want to work on slowing down and making good decisions and that is what I am working on this season and again, definitely my ball handling.”
Brown is getting recruited by many schools at the high major level, “Recruitment is going really good, I am hearing from a lot of coaches. I am just enjoying the recruiting process, it is a lot of fun.”
There are many schools showing significant interest in Brown, “Clemson, UNLV, Georgia Tech, Louisville, LSU, Florida and Florida State are some that are really showing a lot of interest in me.”
He broke down those schools for us.
Clemson: “They had a great year and Coach Brownell and Coach Smith are real good guys. I have built great relationships with them since they have been recruiting me since my 8th grade year and everything is just great with them. I have been to the campus a lot so everything is just great and I am really cool with the guys.”
UNLV: “I have been out there before and me and Coach Menzies are real cool. I have a great relationship with everybody out there and they are in Las Vegas, there is nothing but fun in Vegas, it is just a good experience with a good culture and good environment.”
Louisville: “The new staff at Louisville is good and they recently have been talking to me and told me they are making me a priority. I am just trying to build a good relationship with them.”
Georgia Tech: “Coach Pastner recently came to my school and we have been knowing each other for years. He has been recruiting me since my 8th and 9th grade year and we just have a great relationship.”
LSU: “I recently just talked to Coach Wade and we are building a relationship. They have offered me but are really starting to recruit me harder now so I am trying to learn more and more about them.”
Florida State: “They had a really good year. I am cool with the head coach and Coach C.Y.. I have not been down there but I am hoping to get down there soon.”
Florida: “I am cool with Coach White and the whole coaching staff. I really like it down there.”
