Prep Hoops takes a look at some recruiting news & notes from around the Palmetto State this past week.
Jaron Williams former Longwood University signee received a offer from USC-Upstate. Williams who plays at York Prep will play the NCAA Live Period with PSB Elite.
Jakobe Dill played this season at Heritage Academy in Hilton Head, SC. Dill 6’2 shooting guard is originally from Beaumont, TX. Dill ranked #12 in the 2018 Palmetto State Class is running AAU this spring with the Houston Defenders Unsigned team he told Prep Hoops. Dill plans to attend Sunrise Christian in Kansas next fall.
Grant Singleton has signed with St Thomas Aquinas (NY). Singleton ranked #20 in the 2018 Palmetto State Class play his high school career at Lakewood HS. Singleton finished the season at 15.8 ppg, 4.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists. Singleton the MVP of the north-South All Star Game was also a All-State Selection. Singleton 5’11 finished his career with 1,342 points as a Gator.
Foster Bridges finished his stellar high school career with 1,680 career points. Bridges will play at Anderson University (SC) (NCAA D2) next season. Bridges 6’5 averaged 18.5 ppg and 6 rebounds this season for the Landrum HS Cardinals. The Cardinals finished the season at (21-5).
Malcolm Kennedy a shooting guard from York HS will play his college ball at Coker College. Kennedy recently committed to the Cobras and Head Coach Aric Samuel.
Seth Hewitt will play at Newberry (SC) (NCAA D2) next season. Hewitt 6’5 forward from Boiling Springs HS is deceptive athlete on the floor.
Melvin McKie a point guard from South Aiken HS has informed Prep Hoops he looks to be attending Presbyterian this coming fall as a student. McKie averaged 14.9 ppg and 3.9rebounds this season for the Thoroughbreds (16-7). McKie finished his career with 877 points.
Sharp shooting guard Bryson Rose will be a student next season at Clemson University. Rose a shooting guard from Academic Magnet finished his career with 1,439 points and 355 three pointers made. Rose averaged 18.7 ppg this season for the Raptors.
Former Legacy Early College player Tyrell Mendenhall will his continue college career at Claflin University (SC) (NCAA D2) in Orangeburg. Mendenhall played this past season as a freshman at Richard Bland College (VA). Mendenhall 6’9 (275) averaged 4.4 ppg and 3.4 rebounds for the Statesmen. Mendenhall who is originally from Newberry will have 3 years to play for the Panthers.
Lee Sartor has been named the new head coach at Erskine College in Due West, SC. Sartor was previously coaching Spartanburg Day School to 3 straight state championships.
