Ranked and Ready: Class of 2019
With the April live period coming to an end, many AAU programs from across Southwest Ohio are making the trek back from various tournaments across the country. And with that comes the opportunity for a player to make a name for himself. Here are some ranked players that we believe, starting this weekend, will become household names across the state and beyond. We start with the guards and wings of the class of 2019.
Alex Dotson/G/RGB Ohio Unity/PHO #95- Alex is intriguing due to his size (6’4) and ball-handling ability. When you combine those attributes with his outstanding court-vision and he projects as a point guard at the next level. Dotson was named 2nd team all-league this past season for Purcell Marian.
AJ Garrett/W/Cincy Lakers/PHO #41- A teammate of Dotson during the regular season, AJ has above the rim type athleticism. He has shown already an improved mid-range jumper during the spring and is riding the wave of an outstanding post-season run with the Cavaliers. Expect to hear a lot from this young man the rest of the AAU season.
Brice Hill/W/Mid-Ohio Pumas/PHO #62- This lefty can flat out score the basketball. The Miami Valley Conference Co-Athlete of the Year scored a season-high 42 for Seven Hills against Norwood back on January 23rd. Brice is very good in catch and shoot situations but can put the ball on the deck and score from the mid-range as well.
Javonta Lyons/W/Ohio Ball Stars/PHO#118- Powerful built wing who is a teammate of both the before mentioned Garrett and Dotson. The leading scorer for Purcell at 13.1ppg, Javonta is matchup nightmare due to his strength and skill-set. The lefty has shown improvement shooting the ball from the three and handling the ball over his high-school career as well.
Alec Pfriem/W/KY Royals/PHO #25- This versatile wing was a key piece of what became a state title run for the Moeller Crusaders. Alec is very good at moving without the basketball along with being a very good passer as well. He plays with the high IQ that you would expect with a Moeller Crusader.
